Michael grew up in Hueytown. He is a graduate of Hueytown High School (class of 1996), Samford University, and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. While in Texas he met and married his wife Shelley. They have two awesome kids, Jacey and Caleb. Michael served as Student Pastor at North Highlands for 15 years before being called as Pastor in January of 2019. He loves the people at North Highlands and is committed to helping them grow in their faith and join the mission of making disciples of all nations. He enjoys spending time with his family, meeting his step goal for the day, and all things Disney.

Carl Brown

Carl is from Florence, Alabama, but moved up north to Indiana and graduated from Ball State University. After graduating, Carl felt called into the ministry and starting serving in Indiana and then Kentucky. Early in his ministry, Carl met and married Tara and together they are trying to raise their three boys; Aaron, Danny, and Jacob. Few things bring him near the joy and satisfaction of leading a choir and congregation in the worship of his King, Jesus. When not working on an order of service, he loves watching his kids play, teaching, reading, hiking, cycling, and throwing a golf disc really far!

Bill Donaldson

Bill grew up in Bessemer and graduated from McAdory High School. He married his high school sweetheart JoAnn. They have 4 children, of whom 2 are deceased, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill has also attended Southeastern Bible College, Howard College, and Mercer College. He has pastored churches in Georgia and Alabama and has served as Education Pastor at North Highlands since 2000, when Delonah Baptist and North Highlands merged. Bro. Bill’s heart for people shows as he visits hospitals and nursing home and leads the CARE Ministry.

Josh Nichols

Josh grew up in Hueytown. He is a graduate of Hueytown High and the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Million Dollar Band. Josh has been in youth ministry since 2013. Josh is married to his wife Brittany and they love every aspect of youth and young adult ministry. He loves being outdoors, cooking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with friends.

Melissa Brooks

Melissa was born and raised in Hueytown and started attending North Highlands as a teenager in 2002. She met her husband Eric when they were both apart of a creative worship ministry at NHBC. They have been married since 2007 and have five children together. Melissa and Eric feel called to sharing Christ’s love through foster care and enjoy welcoming children into their home. Melissa is currently a student at Liberty University where she is pursuing a degree in Clinical Counseling. Melissa enjoys sharing the gospel with children and finding ways to help them remember God’s promises. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading and traveling to new places.

Stephanie was born and raised in Hueytown and graduated from Hueytown High (2009), the University of Montevallo (2015), and the University of West Alabama (2019). She has been an early elementary educator since 2016. She has attended North Highlands her whole life and has spent many years serving in the preschool ministry of the church before stepping into a preschool leadership role in 2023. She is passionate about the spiritual foundation that is laid at an early age and enjoys getting to share the love of Christ with everyone. She married her husband, Daniel, in 2018 and they enjoy spending time outdoors and camping.

Amanda grew up in Hueytown. She is a graduate of Hueytown High (2005) and The University of Montevallo (2009). Amanda has always loved working with children, graduating with a degree in Child and Family Studies. She started attending North Highlands in 2017 and has been serving in the preschool ministry since 2019. She loves reading, doing puzzles, watching movies, and spending time with her friends.

Ammy grew up in Bessemer, Alabama and is married to John. They are blessed to have three amazing children Kristin (Caderius), Jake and Kendra, and a beautiful granddaughter Rylee.
Ammy started her journey at North Highlands in 2012 as the Financial Secretary and God is blessing her at this time. By continuing to work and serve in this position, her passion is helping others and living her life on mission. She loves crossword puzzles, games, painting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Casie is from Bessemer, AL. She is a graduate of McAdory High School (2003). She is married to Johnathan and together they have two wonderful kids, Sammie and Johnny. Casie also serves at the Vacation Bible School Director, co-teacher with her husband of the High School Grow Group and a volunteer with the College and Career fellowship. She enjoys singing in the choir and serving in various ways around the church. She loves to spend time with her family either watching movies or exploring God’s creation.
